Branka Apple Pie

If I am not mistaken I mentioned the name Branka a few weeks ago. She is the croatian lady who taught me how to make rolled cheese pancake. Did you try it? It's not that difficult once you got the rythm.

Almost a month a go my friends and me threw a class reunion at Lexis PD. There were hugs and laughs all through the two enjoyable days since that was the first reunion we had after a long 40 years. Of course there were a lots of guesses games of who am I or who she is because we really couldnt cheat the lines that were so obvious on everybody's faces.  But for those merely two days we were still the sweet seventeens of the 73.

Ok.  What I am really getting at is, Branka joined us at the reunion.
She made a delicious apple pie for us. And because I am what I am, and always digging for good recipes, I approached her again telling her how wonderful and delicious her pie was.
Seemed that she was so pleased with my comments and as promised she gave me the recipe the next day.

Actually I wanted to make this pie immediately after coming back from PD but a few things  getting on the way kept holding me back. At one time I already bought some apples and put it in the refrigerator. By the time I decided to have it a go, I found that my apples missing. So the next time I bought apples I made it a point that nobody could find them heee...

Ok.. now I put the recipe here. Thank you Branka for the recipe.  I hope you dont mind I share it with others.

 Pastry:
 300 gm all purpose flour
200 gm cold butter ( cut into small pieces)
1egg
1 tsp baking powder
80 gm sugar
1 grated lemon peel
juice of 1/2 lemon
1 tbs fresh milk

Filling:
1 kg green apples ( peeled and sliced)
3 tbs sugar
1 cup resins
1 tsp cinnamon powder

Mix all together.

For pastry, mix all ingredients. Dont over-knead.
Leave it in the fridge to rest for 1/2 hour.
Take it out when ready.  Roll up half of the pastry, put it in the tin. Spread the filling.
Roll up another half of the pastry and put it on top.
Bake for about one hour at 175 deg c.

Well, have a try.
Good day everyone.  Assalamualaikum.
